Our globe is undergoing changes that go beyond our imagination. We can watch then from a hidden place under the cupboards, or we can take part and lead the change. We try to act locally, translocally, globally – and we have an unprecedented opportunity to change the megamovements of the world, right now.
This is where Action Philosophy comes in. The centre was founded in 2006 to create better connections between global movements and local and translocal initiatives. Our point of departure and primary movement is philosophical – with a clear focus on action for life.
Action philosophy is a way of combining radical reflection beyond all the limitations of institutionalised rationality, with the creative sparks and bonfires that arise from movements of art, design, technologies, and other culturalities. We work to create sustensive eventalities, over a few hours or over many years.
The aim is to give birth to a new world and with it to form a new philosophy. We are convinced that the role of philosophy is not just one of contemplation or commentary. Philosophy holds the force to question everything including its own root. This force is needed today to help create worlds, small and big, dreams, utopias and chronotopias that offer new lines of flight for the people that we could be tomorrow.

And if you feel you have the idea needed to make action philosophy work tomorrow, send us a note or give us a call. We are not rich in money, but we are open, connected, and wise. And we always have space enough for one more burst of madness in the family.
Most of these pages are still in Danish. This will change over the months to come, so that by the end of 2008, the whole site will be back to English, expressing the international nature of Gravitations. The local Danish activities will be moved to our new “agency”, Agenturet.
